Is it that a kitchen I see emerging..

No it's not finished - but after masquerading as a bomb site, building site, cow shed and laterly beatutifuly bright but entirely empty room, our kitchen is finally recognizable as such. It may be only half constructed, but the telltale corner cabinets, huge larder cupboards and yes, even a dishwasher and oven are firmly in place revealing the glorious kitchen that is emerging (sorry for tad over dramatics on the kitchen - but you can tell I'm really excited about it!!)

Following on from last post, we next laid the floor tiles (in progress picture below). We are really pleased with them, as they were a bit of a treat and are smooth polished slate with a slight purple sheen and look really lovely. All the hard preparation work with self levelling paid off and they look fabulous - I just can't wait to feel the warmth of the underfloor heating as I'm whipping up some culinary genious at the stove (or even when just shoving a pizza in the oven..)

Two weekends ago Jean and Roger visited and along with Dave formed a cabinet making production line and managed to construct all of the cabinets. The painstaking task of positioning them perfectly in line and level then began with high levels of 'faff' before Dave was happy they were just right. We are expecting the rest of our appliances to arrive this week (extractor fan and huuge big American style fridge freezer - yipeee no more prioritising over which vegetables and drinks get to be chilled in our current tiny fridge). We also chose and ordered our wall tiles and just need to decide on a worktop surface to complete the look. Hopefully pictures of a very polished and finished looking kitchen will be appearing here soon..

Last weekend was a big one for Freya as she attended her first ever wedding. I managed to resist buying her the adorable dress I saw in Monsoon, when I realised it cost more than my outfit and she would probably wear it for about an hour before being sick on it then growing out of it. Instead, she looked very cute indeed sporting her crochet shawl loving crafted by granny Jean. She was good enough in the church to last for the best bits (bride arriving and the vows) and stayed up past her bed time to enjoy some of the reception - picture below shows her in her jimjams ready to be reluctantly taken home from the party. Lukily for Freya she left before Dave got over enthusiastic with his first night of embarassing dad dancing - I believe there is photographic evidence however..

I like the tastefully arranged flannel in the bath scene! When she is 21 she will be thankful of it when you produce the embarassing baby photos. At least it is only bad dancing that she will have to contend with.

Building kitchens one minute, bathing babies the next. I give you David Hartley - Noughties Man!

I'm impressed with the kitchen, can we have a new post please. See you at the weekend.
